Over 30 years of professional home
based care providing families with
perfect peace of mind!

Who is Fish Hoek Home Nursing?

It began over 30 years ago when Fish Hoek Home nursing services Trust was established in Cape Town, South African under the auspices of the Fish Hoek Town Council in 1991. This autonomous, self-supporting, non-profit making organisation was created to provide a nursing service which gave the elderly in the Fish Hoek Valley the option of being cared for in their homes instead of moving to a retirement centre or a frail care home.

Today, over 31 years later, Fish Hoek Home nursing services is still a non-profit organisation which provides 24-hour nursing care in the privacy of one’s own home. They provide a much more comprehensive and wider-reaching service to meet the more extensive needs of people throughout the Southern peninsula area and surrounds.

The ethos has not changed, however, it is still based on providing personalised constantly monitored care with the understanding that home-based care is significantly more beneficial than other forms of nursing care. We respect the individual’s preference for living or recovering in their own environment and we are more than prepared to help maintain our client’s dignity, independence and comfort in their own home.

It is there that our patients are with their pets, families and friends, all of whom play an important role in the more rapid full recovery and/or ongoing peace of mind of their loved ones.

What makes our care special?

“The best way to find yourself is to
lose yourself in the service of others”

-Mahatma Gandhi

Our nursing team take great pride in every aspect of our process and our services…

Assessment

A comprehensive assessment is done in collaboration with the client and sometimes their families on both the client and their home environment. An individualised care plan is then devised and created by a nursing sister after the assessment, to match the customised needs of the patient.

Professionals

Our care workers and qualified nursing sisters ensure their skill sets and techniques are regularly adapted to enable every client to receive the very best nursing care available physically, mentally and emotionally.

Going the extra mile

However, our services don’t stop there. We also assist with light housekeeping and cooking and ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are rigidly adhered to. Our carers assist with your personal care needs, exercise and meal planning, all carried out under the supervision of our nursing sisters. Assistance with the submission of account to the patient’s medical aid can also be arranged by our account department.

24hrs – 7 days / week

Our on-call services are available 24/7, as is emergency assistance which is arranged in collaboration with Cape Medical Response.

"On 31st January we attended the clinic for Motor neurone disease patients at Groote Schuur Hospital.  The doctors were all agreed that her general condition showed she was receiving a very good standard of care.
I also believe this is true.  Actually, I know know that it's true because I see it every day.
So on behalf of Doris I want to express our gratitude to Lee Ann and Irene for all they do for her. And to commend them both for the dedication and care that they give us every day. The care they give together with their social interaction with her do a great deal to improve her quality of life."
